The UNESCO has annousced February 21 as the
International Mother Language day to be observed globally in recognition of the
sacrifices martyrs for establishing the rightful place of Bangla. The
proclamation came in the form of a resolution unanimously adopted at the
plenary of the UNESCO at its head quarters in Paris in November 1999.The UNESCO
in its resolution said globally the recognition was given bearing in mind that
to spread mother tongue widely will not only add variety in language and
encourage multingual-education but also to develop fuller variety about
language and cultural tradition throughout the world and to inspire unity based
on understanding to learns and dialogue.The resolution was tabled in Bangladesh.
It is a great tribute and glowing homage paid by the International community to
the language martyrs of Bangladesh.The government proclaimed in Dhaka that the plenary of the UNESCO general conference.

Abul Qasen Fazlul Haq
was born in 1872 at Saturia in Barisal.
There he received his primary education in a village Maktab. He entered the Barisal Zill School.
He passed the Entrance Exam nation standing first in the Dhaka Division. After
that he went to Calcutta
for higher education. At age of twenty one he passed the B.SC. Examination
obtaining Honors in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics from the Presidency College,
Calcutta. He
took his M.SC. Degree in Mathematics in 1885. The next year he was a pointed an
Examiner of M.A. in Mathematics in Calcutta
University. In 1897 he
passed B.L. Examination with distinction and enrolled him self in the Calcutta
High court as assistant to sir Asutosh Mukhergee. He worked with Nawab sir
Salimullah Bahadure and played and Important role in founding the all India
Muslim legue in 1906. In the same year he gave up his legal profession and
become a Deputy Magistrate. He acted for a short time, resigned and he joined
the Calcutta High court again in 1912. In 1913 he became an elected M.L.C. for
the first time. There years after he attended the special joint session of the
congress and the Muslim Legue in look now and played an Important role. In 1918
he became the General Secretary of the Indian National Congress and President
of the all Indian Muslim Legue.
